Which Generate This Code:A warning is activated when the fuel pressure goes below 425 kPa (62 psi) for 10 seconds. The engine begins derate mode when the fuel pressure goes below 400 kPa (58 psi) for 10 seconds. The maximum derate occurs when the fuel pressure reaches 350 kPa (51 psi).System Response:The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) will display "Engine Derate" in the first engine status box on any Cat ET status screen. The ECM derates the engine power by 35 percent. The ECM will restore full power when the fuel pressure rises above 470 kPa (68 psi) for 4 seconds.The ECM will generate a EID 005 event code on the Cat data link. The event code will be displayed on a diagnostic screen of Cat ET.This event code indicates a restriction in the fuel filter. This does not represent a problem with the ECM.Test Step 1.
