PROBLEM
The existing 179-6863 Front Inner and Rear Inner Duo-Cone Seal Groups, may develop a leak due to compressions set of the existing rubber 145-6043 Toric Rings on certain 793D Off-Highway Trucks. In these applications if an Inner Duo-Cone Seal Group develops a leak, there will typically be a transfer of brake cooling oil into the wheel bearing oil, causing a reduction of the wheel bearing oil viscosity. If the leak is severe and or over time, a measurable loss of brake cooling oil along with an over-full condition of wheel bearing oil may also be observed.

If an 179-6863 Inner Duo-Cone Seal Group develops a leak, replace it with a 297-9546 Duo-Cone Seal Group. Refer to the machine Disassembly and Assembly Manual for specific instructions.

14 hours maximum labor allowed per front wheel inner seal or 44 hours maximum labor allowed per rear wheel inner seal only will be allowed per claim.
A total of 2 front inner Duo-Cone Seal and 2 rear inner Duo-Cone Seal claims are allowed per machine serial number.
Designate in the "Additional Comments" section of the claim whether it is a left inner front, right inner front, left inner rear, or right inner rear failure.
If there has been a previous repair, part age will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
This Service Letter only covers Duo-Cone Seals that have failed as a result of compression setting of the Toric. Duo-Cone Seal failures for other causes or as a result of other related component failures are not allowed under this Service Letter.
Duo-Cone Seal Groups replaced at Planned Component Replacement (PCR) intervals are not allowed under this Service Letter
