July 2000 3406 SHORT BLOCK PRODUCT LINE ADDITION Product Caterpillar announces a Remanufactured 3406C short block for truck engines with the 8PN serial number prefix:

0R7698 116-4594 Features and Benefits
This short block product uses the 0R9424 cylinder pack with the 150-6223 steel piston crown, a significant improvement over the aluminum piston originally used in the 116-4594 piston and rod Group.
Reman short blocks expand the repair options available. When used with other Remanufactured products and reusable components from the core engine, short blocks help reduce turnaround time. Cat Reman short blocks are fully assembled with the block group, piston and connecting rod groups and crankshaft assembly.
Core Acceptance
Core acceptance for Caterpillar Remanufactured short blocks is simple, visual and requires no special tools. Any 3406C short block is an acceptable core. See Core Acceptance Guideline SELD0026 for complete details.
