Before starting the repair, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual that is appropriate for your machine.
Disassemble the hydraulic hoses in boom foot area for easy access.
Cover the component by sheets (vinyl or cloth) around swivel joint area for easy cleaning of debris from grinding.
Grinder should be pencil type as Image 1.2.1.
(A disc type grinder should not be used, because it is easy to grind too much of the welding metal)

Grind welding toe so that the toe radius is approximately 3mm from A to B. Refer to Image 1.3.1.
(The image shows the left side plate only, but the right side also needs to be grinded.)

Before starting the repair, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual that is appropriate for your machine.
Use a pit or lift the machine (both sides) for easy access. Maintain proper safety practices when lifting and supporting the machine. Refer to Image 1.6.2.
Remove the paint and clean any dirt, rust, grease, etc. from the the area that is to be welded. Refer to Image 1.6.1.
Keep dry during the welding process in order to prevent a welding crack; the plate surfaces and welding stick should be dry.

Add rib plates
Locate the rib plates following the dimension. Refer to Image 1.7.1.
(Keep a good fit up in order to prevent an excessive gap by grinding the weld or plate cutting.)
Weld the rib plates in 6 locations. Refer to Image 1.8.1.

Add doubler plates
Locate the doubler plates following the dimension. Refer to Image 1.10.1.
(Keep a good fit up in order to prevent an excessive gap by grinding the weld or plate cutting.)
Weld the doubler plates in 4 locations. Refer to Image 1.10.1.
