Introduction
This section describes the METSmanager software.Authentication Code and Authentication Key
Reference For instructions on obtaining and updating the Authentication Code and the Authentication Key, refer to Special Instruction, REHS3652, "CAESultra v3.2 Software Installation" .Setting up METSmanager
METSmanager simplifies the day to day operations of the site. METS uses the local coordinates of the site for communication. To set up a machine, enter the information that allows METSmanager to specifically identify that machine. For a CAESultra site, a coordinate system and the conversion from WGS-84 to the coordinate system that is used by the site must be defined. WGS-84 is the coordinate system that is used by GPS.METSmanager supports communication with the following systems:
Machines that are equipped with a Computer Aided Earthmoving Systems (CAES)
Drills that are equipped with an Aquila Drill Monitoring (DM) system
CAESbasic systems that are designed for mining and construction machinesTransferring Data
For CAESultra, Aquila, and other machines, data must be transferred. There are ten types of files that can be transferred from METSmanager to CAESultra machines. There are two different types of files that can be sent to blasthole drills. Any type of file can be sent to CAESbasic machines.Any of the CAESultra files can be created from DXF files that are being exported from the site-planning software. For a description of these files, refer to Systems Operation, "File Transfer (CAESultra)" in the "CAT File Types" section. Additional file types can be used to create CAESultra files by using the Graphical File Converter. For more information, refer to Systems Operation, "Graphical File Converter".Files can be transferred to a machine by "dragging and dropping" the file from the data directory onto the machine icon. A dialog is used in order to specify any required details.Normally, a template that matches the site-planning software is created. The same template can be applied to all files that have a similar purpose. The area or the region of the file that is to be sent can be specified. This can greatly reduce the amount of data that is transmitted. For more information, refer to Systems Operation, "File Transfer (CAESultra)" in the "Transferring a File to a Machine" section.Data Collection
METSmanager receives data from the CAESultra machines in the form of progress reports. These reports are known as "snippets". This data is used to update the master site models that are held in the METS system. This data can be used to show the progress of each machine. The data can also be used in order to show all of the machines that are on the site.Productivity reports can be retrieved from CAESultra and blasthole drills.Starting METSmanager
When the METSmanager software is installed, METSmanager appears as an option in a submenu. This option is located under the "Start/Programs/Caterpillar" menu.

When METSmanager starts, the program checks for a base folder. If METSmanager cannot find the base folder, then use the "Browse" function in order to find the folder.
Illustration 2 g01273671
This function may be needed if the folder that holds the data has been moved, or if METSmanager is being run for the first time
