PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE FUEL RETURN LINE
MODELS INVOLVED - 330D(L) Excavators
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
A new tube assembly for the fuel return line needs to be installed on the products listed below. The existing tube can interfere with the muffler bracket, possibly causing a fuel leak.
You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 17May2007 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

2.Remove original parts
Illustration 2 shows LH VIEW OF ENGINE.
(1)6V-1820 Bolt
(2)6V-5839 Washer
(3)119-5708 Clip
(4)7W-3447 Spacer
(5)231-7849 Tube
Remove Bolt(1), Washer(2), Clip(3), Spacer(4), and Tube(5).
Washer(2) is used again. Refer to Illustration 2

3.Install improved parts

Install Tube(10) with 40+4Nm. Tighten Spacer(9), Clip(8) and Washer(7)
by Bolt(6)with 45Nm~65Nm. Refer Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.
Please confirm that the clearance of a muffler bracket and a tube is over 10mm.
