Introduction
Under certain soil conditions, abrasive material will wear the brake calipers. Additional parts are now available to protect the calipers. This publication will show the necessary parts. It will also show the method of installing the protection system. If your machine has been retrofitted with the brake scrapers described in the Special Instruction SEHS9004 the 8R4746 Blocks may remain installed. All other parts installed per that instruction should be removed prior to making this installation.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within. If several machines are to be modified, a locating template should be fabricated to expedite installation.Reference: Operation & Maintenance Manual, Parts Manual, and Service Manual.Necessary Parts
The following items are part of and can be ordered as the 4E1454 Service Group Making the Installation

Be sure the bleed points at two locations C remain accessible.6. Tack weld each plate (2) across each end (locations [A] and [B]) with a 6 mm (.2 in) fillet weld. The 4E1427 Plates, and the plates they weld to, are made of ASTM A514 Steel.7. Remove bolts (3), washers (4) and plate (1).8. Weld each plate from (A) to (B) with a 6 mm (.2 in) butt weld.9. Bolt plate assembly (1) to plates (2) with four bolts (3) and four washers (4). Leave the bolts loose.
Drive Wheel and Belt are shown in place.10. Bolt 8R8591 Plate Assembly (5) with two 5P2228 Bolts (3) and two 8T4223 Washers (4). Leave the bolts loose. 8R8591 Plate Assembly mounts on the bottom on the right side and on the top on the left side.11. Bolt 8R8594 Plate Assembly (6) with two 5P2228 Bolts (3) and two 8T4223 Washers (4).
