Read the programmable system option settings (ride control, secondary steering, etc) from the ECM by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). Record these settings manually for programming the new power train ECM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the machine harness from the power train ECM.
Remove the power train ECM.
Make sure that the new power train ECM that is being installed has the correct part number.
Connect the machine harness to the power train ECM.
Install the new power train ECM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
If the correct software is not installed in the new power train ECM, use the ET to flash the correct software.
Program the options (ride control, secondary steering, etc) via the ET.
Calibrate the transmission.
