Install plate (12) and the gasket to flywheel housing (13) with bolts (11) and the washers.

Use Tooling (C) to install bearing (10) into adapter (4). Align the holes in bearing (10) with holes (Y) in adapter (4).

Install O-ring seal (7), thrust washer (6), and dowels (5) onto adapter (4).

If the studs were removed, refer to Table2 for the correct torque specification for the studs. Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of the studs. Install adapter (4), the washers, and nuts (3). Refer to Table 2 for the correct torque specification for nuts (3).

Position lip seal (9) on Tooling (A) and start the installation by hand. Allow plastic installation sleeve to kick out as the seal begins to seat in the adapter (4). Discard the plastic installation sleeve.
Use a soft brass hammer or applicable tool if needed. Tooling (A) will stop on the face of the adapter when the seal is installed to the proper depth. Lip seal (9) will be just below flush of the adapter face.

Install the dirt seal (8) uniformly by hand so it bottoms out. Illustration 17 shows a properly installed seal.Note: Dirt seal turns with the shaft while the lip seal remains stationary in the adapter.
Illustration 18 g03326416Note: The bearing surfaces of locknut (1) and the washer must be free of grease prior to installation.Note: Ensure that the inside taper on yoke (2) and the shaft is free of grease prior to the installation of the yoke.
Install yoke (2) onto the shaft. Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of locknut (1). Install the washer and locknut (1). Refer to Table 2 for the correct torque specification for locknut (1).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable prybar to verify the end play of the shaft. The shaft end play measurement should be 0.15 mm to 0.77 mm (0.006 inch to 0.031 inch).
