1. Remove exhaust elbow (1) and loosen clamp on rear of muffler.2. Remove bolts from bracket (5). Remove muffler and bracket.3. Remove water pipe (2) between water pump and regulator housing. Disconnect water temperature sending unit from regulator housing.4. Loosen the clamps on the top radiator hose.5. Disconnect vent line (6) and remove pipe (4) from cylinder head. Remove bracket (3) from head. 6. Fasten a hoist to the regulator housing. Remove the bolts that hold the housing in place. Remove the water temperature regulator housing (7). Weight is 70 lb. (32 kg).7. Remove exhaust elbow between turbocharger and exhaust manifold.8. Remove bracket and inlet pipe from turbocharger. 9. Disconnect oil inlet line (8) and drain line (10) from turbocharger.10. Fasten a hoist to the turbocharger. Remove the bolts from the bracket. Remove turbocharger (9). Weight is 45 lb. (20 kg).11. Remove bracket from rear of head.12. To remove left cylinder head only, remove the two brackets between the cylinder head and governor housing.13. To remove the right cylinder head only, disconnect line from fuel ratio control. Remove bracket between governor housing and intake manifold. Remove the bolts from brackets between cylinder head and pump housing. Disconnect the glow plug wiring at the connection by the governor housing. 14. Remove the cylinder head bolts and washers. Fasten a hoist and remove the cylinder head (11). Weight is 560 lb. (299 kg).Install Cylinder Heads
Always install a new gasket between spacer plate and cylinder block.1. Clean the top surface of spacer plate and bottom surface of the cylinder head. Install the head gasket and water seals. 2. Fasten a hoist and put the cylinder head (1) in position on the engine.3. Put 9M3710 Antl-Seize Compound on the threads of bolts and washers. Tighten the bolts in the following step sequence: a) Tighten all bolts in number sequence to 175 lb.ft. (24.2 mkg).b) Tighten all bolts in number sequence to 250 lb.ft. (34.6 mkg).c) Tighten all bolts by hand in number sequence to 250 lb.ft. (34.6 mkg).4. To install right cylinder head only, connect the glow plug wiring. Install bracket between governor housing and intake manifold. Install the bolts in the three brackets between cylinder head and pump housing.5. To install left cylinder head only, install the two brackets between cylinder head and intake manifold. 6. Install bracket (2) on rear of cylinder head.7. Fasten a hoist and put the turbocharger in position on engine. Install bolts in support.8. Connect oil inlet and drain lines to turbocharger.9. Install air inlet pipe and bracket (3).10. Install exhaust elbow (4) in manifold. 11. Install bracket (7), pipe (9) and connect vent line (10).12. Install water temperature regulator housing (5) and top radiator hose.13. Install water pipe (8) between pump and regulator housing.14. Install temperature sending unit (6).15. Install muffler and elbow.end by:a) install camshaft housing
