Note: The block diagram illustrations give a general overview of the electronic controls and components that are used to control the operation of the Power Train Electric Drive System. More detailed information can be found in the sections of the manual that are referenced in the following text. The D7E Track Type Tractor features electronic control of the following main machine systems:
The Power Train Electric Drive System
The Accessory Power System
The Final Drive System
The Parking Brake System and the Service Brake SystemThe D7E Track Type Tractor is equipped with a Power Train Electric Drive System. The Final Drive System on the machine is driven by two electric motors that are mounted inside of the Electric Drive Propulsion Module. Electrical power for all of the machine electrical systems is produced by a Generator that is mounted on the rear of the Engine. The cab on the machine can be tilted and locked into the tilted position in order to allow access to the main power train components. For the procedure for raising the cab to the tilt position and locking the cab in the tilt position, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.
The Power Train Electric Drive System and the Accessory Power System will contain hazardous voltage levels during machine operation and for a period of time after machine shutdown.Do not remove any covers that will expose energized electrical components while the engine is operating. Do not remove any covers that will expose the energized electrical components while the components remain energized following an engine shutdown.Do not perform any type of electrical maintenance on the orange hazardous voltage conductors, the power train components or the accessory power system components while the engine is operating.Do not perform any type of electrical maintenance on the orange hazardous voltage conductors, the power train components or the accessory power system components while the components remain energized following an engine shutdown.Always perform the safe shutdown and de-energizing procedure before performing electrical service on the Power Train Electric Drive System or the Accessory Power System.Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury or death.
Read the Systems Operation, "Power Train Electrical System" section of this manual in order to become familiar with the components that are used in the operation of the electric drive Power Train Electric Drive System and the Accessory Power System. After you are familiar with the power train and accessory system components, read the electrical system guideline information that is found in the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Maintenance Guidelines" section of this manual. This section of the manual contains the guidelines that must be followed when performing maintenance procedures on the machine electrical systems and the machine hydraulic systems.Note: If information for a particular system
