Procedure for Installation of the Lever
After installation, complete the following procedure.
Tighten setscrews (2) until lever (3) is centered with no free play. The recommended torque for setscrews (2) is 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).Note: Do not tighten setscrews (2) beyond a reasonable amount.
Tighten nuts (1) to a torque of 160 15 N m (120 11 lb ft).Note: During the assembly of link (6) to lever (3), orient tapped hole (7) to the left side for the left frame. Also, orient tapped hole (7) to the right side for the right frame. (4) When the assembly is complete, fill each hub to the plug level with 2P-9869 Oil (SAE 30W). Oil volume when the oil has reached the plug level. ... .450 L (0.475 qt) (5) The rubber toric seals and all surfaces that contact the seals must be clean and dry before assembly. Prior to assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore and the toric ring. Bulging or twisting of the seal ring should not occur. Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS8463, "Installation Of Conventional Duo-Cone Seals". Note: Before you apply tension to the belts, make sure that adjustment lever (3) is in the neutral position. There should be no free play between setscrews (2) and the tab on cap (8) .
Slowly apply tension to the belts. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, RENR1778 for the procedure for tensioning the belts.
After tension has been applied to both belts, do step 3 or 4.
The following steps are used for the alignment of the belts, when the belts on the machine are off the ground.
Raise the machine until the belts are off the ground approximately 51 mm (2.0 inch).
Start the engine. Place the transmission in the forward position and the sixth gear. Set the engine speed to 1500 rpm.
Rotate the belts from eight to twelve times. Do not operate the steering.
When the belts are stopped, shut off the engine and engage the parking brake.
Measure the gap between the guide blocks and the inside of the front set of wheels (MID).
Tighten the setscrews (2) if the gap is within 2.0 mm (.08 inch) of being equal on each side of the front wheels (MID). The torque for setscrews (2) is 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).
Hold setscrews (2) and tighten locknuts (1) to a torque of 136 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).
When the gap is not within 2.0 mm (0.08 inch) of being equal on each side, inspect the belts. Determine if the belts are tracking to the inside or to the outside.
If the belts are tracking to the inside, go to step 3.k.
If the belts are tracking to the outside, go to step 3.l.Note: As setscrew (2) is
