Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Lubricate plunger (4) and spring (5) with clean engine oil. Install the plunger and the spring in engine oil filter base (7).
Install plug (6) in engine oil filter base (7). Tighten plug (6) to a torque of 100 15 N m (74 11 lb ft).
Install O-ring seals (3) on elbow (1). Position elbow (1) on the engine oil filter base and install bolts (2).
If necessary, install taperlock stud (8) to engine oil filter base (7). Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of 68 7 N m (50 5 lb ft). Note: Apply Tooling (A) to the first 10.5 1.5 mm (0.41 0.06 inch) of threads at the base end of the taperlock stud.End By:
Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install".
