Information:
Machines Equipped With Radiators With Side ChannelsThe radiators with the new design have side channels and a thin support plate (header) at the top of the core assembly. The side channels make these radiators more rigid, while the thin header plate permits the tubes to expand upward as the coolant heats up to normal operating temperature. The thickness of the top header plate is approximately one-half that of the bottom header plate. Since it is possible to install these core assemblies with the thin header plate at the top or the bottom, it is important to remember that the core assembly must be installed with the thin header plate next to the radiator top tank.
To assemble the top and bottom tanks and side channels use the procedure which follows: 1. While the core assembly is still in its container, put the core assembly in a horizontal position on blocks.2. Remove the top and sides of the container.
Because the thin header is very flexible, do not lift the core assembly until the top and bottom tanks and side channels have been installed. To lift the radiator always use the bolts on the end flanges of the top tank.3. Put the top and bottom tank assemblies in position on the core assembly. Install the bolts finger tight. Make sure the top tank is installed on the thin header plate and that inlet and outlet openings in the tanks are in the same direction.4. Tighten the bolts, which hold the top and bottom tanks in place, to the standard torque for that size bolt. The bolts must be tightened from the center toward the sides and then from the front to the back.5. Use 6V2499 Seal (bulk) to put new seals on the side channels. Install the side channels. Make sure they are positioned correctly. On the 826C Compactor the slots must be toward the bottom tank.
