Removal Procedure
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies.
Open the right side access door.

Remove the cable straps and disconnect harness assembly (5).
Disconnect hose assemblies (1) from piston pump (2).
Remove the bolts, the clamps, and hose assemblies (3) and (4) from piston pump (2).
Remove the two bolts , the two washers, piston pump (2), and the O-ring seal. Installation Procedure
Install piston pump (2) in the reverse order of removal.
