The CID 0888 diagnostic code is associated with the "Ripper Shank Lower" solenoid. The FMI 13 diagnostic code is recorded when the Implement ECM determines that the ripper lower solenoid requires calibration. Once the solenoid has been calibrated successfully, this diagnostic code will disappear.Possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The ECM has been replaced or new software has been installed.
The calibration procedure has failed.
The ECM has generated this code in error.System Response:
The operation of the solenoid is slow or erratic. Test Step 1. PERFORM CALIBRATION.
Perform the calibration procedure for the ripper control handle. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" procedure in the service manual for your machine.
Observe the status of the CID 0888 FMI 13 diagnostic code. Expected Result:The CID 0888 FMI 13 diagnostic code is not active.Results:
OK - The CID 0888 FMI 13 diagnostic code is not active. The calibration corrected the condition that caused the diagnostic code. The calibration procedure was performed successfully.Repair: Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 0888 FMI 13 diagnostic code is active. The calibration procedure was not performed successfully.Repair: Verify that the correct Implement ECM is installed on the machine. Verify that the correct software has been flashed into the ECM. Then repeat the calibration.If the diagnostic code is still active and the cause is not found, the ECM may have generated this diagnostic code in error.Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, you may need to replace the ECM. Prior to replacing an ECM, contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for a possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time.
