The engine is kept warm by dual electric jacket water heaters. These jacket water heaters are mounted on the rear of either side of the engine. Each jacket water is rated for the following criteria: 3 phase, 480 V and 6 kW (8.0 hp). The jacket water heaters receive water from the lower rear of the cylinder block. The water returns to the inlet side of the cylinder block by hose connections. The systems are installed with a gradual rise. Circulation of the heated jacket water is achieved by the natural convection. Each jacket water heater is controlled by a temperature regulator in order to maintain jacket water coolant temperature at 65.5 °C (150 °F).
