0R3860, 0R3233, and 0R9250 scavenge oil pumpsin dealer parts inventory check build date code of pump.
For pumps in the Date range of September 1, 2004? March 23, 2005 check the S/N on the pump housing. If the S/N falls intothe (B4078-B4256) range then replace the entire pump with a new remanufacturedscavenge oil pump of same p/n as bad pump.
If the pump build date code is September 1, 2004? March 23, 2005, and pump housing S/N does not fall into the specifiedrange (B4078-B4256) then disassemble the drive gear from the pump.Utilizing alcohol clean the pump shaft and gear taper. Install and torquethe 161-2513 drivegear utilizing the SENR2353-03 Specification for 3500 Industrial EngineAttachments.
*****Affected Product *****If the engine installed in ServiceLetter Affected Product is a Remanufactured Engine S/N listed in Table1 below perform the following:
Check that scavenge oil pump p/n installedon remanufactured engine is a remanufactured p/n 0R3860, 0R3233, or 0R8250.
If scavenge oil pump is a remanufacturedpump then check the s/n on the pump housing. If the pump housing s/n isin range B4078-B4256 replace the entire pump with a remanufactured pumpfrom the list in "Parts Needed" section above.
If scavenge oil pump is a remanufacturedpump and pump housing s/n is not in range B4078-B4256, then disassemblethe drive gear from the pump. Utilizing alcohol clean the pump shaft andgear taper. Install and torque the 161-2513 drive gear utilizing the SENR2353-03Specification for 3500 Industrial Engine Attachments.
If drive gear has failed on remanufacturedscavenge oil pump replace the entire pump with a remanufactured pump fromthe list in "Parts Needed" section above.
