Schematic Of The Rotor Depth Position SensorThis diagnostic code (fault) is recorded when the ECM reads the sensor signal as above normal or shorted to +battery.The results of this diagnostic code are:
A category 2 warning is showing on the Computerized Monitoring System.
A diagnostic code on the rotor depth position sensor will only allow manual control of the rotor depth. Work and travel operation is not allowed. The possible causes for this diagnostic code are:
+Battery circuit (119-PK) from the electrical system to the sensor is open.
Return circuit (840-GN) is open.
Signal circuit (B841-GY) is open.
Signal circuit (B841-GY) is shorted to +battery.
Sensor is faulty.
ECM is faulty (unlikely).Service Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 034 FMI F00 is on-hold and that the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator is ON. This procedure ca cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the procedure is completed, clear the created diagnostic codes.
Check Return Circuit.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
At the machine harness connector for the sensor, measure the resistance between contact B (840-GN) and frame ground. Expected Result: The resistance measure 5 ohms or less.Results:
YES - The return circuit is correct. Proceed to next step.
NO - The return circuit (840-GN) in the machine harness is open. Repair or replace the machine harness. STOP.
Check +Battery Circuit At Sensor.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
At the machine harness for the sensor, measure the voltage (DCV) between contact A (119-PK) and contact B (840-GN). Expected Result: The voltage is between 18.0 to 32 DCV. Results:
YES - The +battery circuit is correct. Proceed to next step.
NO - The +battery circuit (119-PK) in the machine harness is open between the sensor and the circuit breaker. Repair or replace the machine harness. STOP.
Check ECM And Harness.
At the machine harness for the sensor, measure the voltage (DCV) between contact C (B841-GY) and contact B (840-GN). Expected Result: The voltage is between 4.0 to 6.0 DCV. Results:
YES - The signal circuit is correct. Proceed to Step 5.
NO - The machine harness or the ECM is faulty. Proceed to next step.
Check Harness For Short To +Battery.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance from pin 28 (B841-GY) to all sources of positive voltage. The possible sources of positive voltage are contacts 1, 10, 11, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38. Expected Result: The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement.Results:
YES - The machine harness is correct. Proceed to next step.
NO - There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between B841-GY and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair or replace the machine harness. STOP.
Check Circuit Operation.
Reconnect harness connector to the ECM.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Access Service Mode. Place the initial diagnostic code (CID 034 FMI F00) on-hold. Ensure that the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator is
