Schematic of the automatic blade position kickout set switchThe automatic blade position (ABP) kickout set switch is a momentary contact double-pole, double throw rocker switch that provides two switch-to-ground inputs to the ECM. Both inputs to the ECM are normally open. This diagnostic code is recorded when the status of both of the inputs are grounded at the same time. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The raise set input is shorted to ground while the lower set input is grounded through the switch.
The circuits are shorted to ground in the harness.
The circuits are shorted together. The switch must be in one specific position.
The switch has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:The machine response is listed:
The operator switch will not change the raise or lower kickout position.Table 1 contains wire numbers and connector contacts. Use this information to troubleshoot the failed circuit.

( 1 ) N/O = Normally Open.
( 2 ) G = ECM Ground (Continuity).
( 3 ) O = Open.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code is corrected.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code indicator is ON and that the diagnostic code is active.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SWITCH
Turn the key switch to the ON position.
Observe ON/OFF status of the diagnostic code indicator.
While observing the status of the diagnostic code indicator, disconnect the machine harness connector from the switch.Expected Result:The diagnostic code indicator remains ON. The diagnostic code is still active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code indicator remains active. The switch is not the cause of the diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The diagnostic code indicator is OFF. The diagnostic code is no longer active. The switch may be shorted internally.Repair: Check the continuity of the switch contacts with the switch in all positions. Refer to the switch schematic in order to verify the correct contact continuity of the switch in each position. If the switch is found to be faulty, replace the switch. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the key switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector J1 and J2 from the ECM.
At the machine harness ECM connector J1, measure the resistance from the raise set signal contact J1-22 (wire H709-BU) to all ECM ground and frame ground contacts on connectors J1 and J2. The ground contacts on connector J1 are J1-2, J1-5, J1-7, J1-15 and J1-16. The ground contact on connector J2 is J2-3. Repeat this step with lower set signal contact J1-21 (wire H708-OR).Expected Result:Each
