Open the engine access door on the left side of the machine.

The engine crankcase breather filter (1) is located toward the top of the engine. Remove the top cover from the breather cover to access the filter.
Discard the engine crankcase breather.
Check the condition of the hose. Replace the hoses if the hoses are damaged.
Install the engine crankcase breather to the breather cover.
Install the engine crankcase breather filter.
Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the seal on the new filter.
Install a new filter hand tight until the seal of the engine crankcase breather filter contacts the base. Instructions for the installation of the filters are printed on the side of each Caterpillar spin-on filter. For non-Caterpillar filters, refer to the installation instructions that are provided by the supplier of the filter.
Close the access door.
