Description of Change: The portion of the dowel that protrudes from the cylinder block has been reduced from a diameter of 12.5 mm (0.49 inch) to 9.8 mm (0.39 inch). The smaller diameter prevents the dowel from contacting the integral seal for the cylinder head.The new dowel with the smaller top diameter must be installed with a new driver.Adaptable To:

(1) New 371-6455 Dowel (2) Former 342-7290 Dowel The new 371-6455 Dowel (1) replaces the former 342-7290 Dowel (2), which is canceled.The new dowel is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.The new dowel is effective with the engine serial numbers that are listed in Table 1.
