Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Always wear protective gloves when handling parts that have been heated.
Note: Identify the orientation of ring gear (3) on flywheel (2) for the correct positioning when the new ring gear is installed.
Raise the temperature of ring gear (3) in order to install ring gear (3) on flywheel (2). Note: Do not use a torch to heat ring gear (3).

Install Tooling (A) on the crankshaft. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device on flywheel (2) and position flywheel (2) in the flywheel housing. The weight of flywheel (2) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb).
Install bolts (1). Remove Tooling (B).
Remove Tooling (A). Install remaining bolts (1) that secure flywheel (2) to the crankshaft. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 140 N m (103 lb ft).
Check the alignment of the flywheel with the crankshaft. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel - Inspect". End By:
Install the speed/timing sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Speed/Timing Sensor - Remove and Install".
Install the generator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Generator - Remove and Install".
Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
