CAN Data-Link Outputs
The CAN data-link is also known as J1939 data-link. The data link is an industry standard for sending high speed data between different devices in the same application. The CAN data-link connects to the VIMSTM 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
CAN low pin 34 (wire F712-GN)
CAN high pin 50 (wire F711-YL)Cat® Data-Link (CDL) Outputs
The Cat® Data-Link (CDL) is used for the following communication:
Between electronic control modules (ECMs)
With service tools
With the Messenger displayThe data-link is bidirectional, information can be sent and received. The data link consists of the following machine components:

The VIMS 3G Main ECM utilizes an RS-232 service port (five-pin connector) to access and download service information. The RS-232 connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
RS-232 Port 1 - DTR pin 23 (wire N970-YL)
RS-232 Port 1 - DCD pin 30 (wire N973-BR)
RS-232 Port 2 - TxD pin 27 (wire N691-OR)
RS-232 Port 2 - RxD pin 35 (wire N958-PK)
RS-232 Port 2 - GND pin 43 (wire N980-GN)
RS-232 Port 3 - TxD pin 62 (wire N963-OR)
