Information:

This section includes only operating techniques and precautions, unique to a machine equipped with a telescopic stick. For general operating techniques and precautions not covered herein, refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the standard machine.Digging
Do not use the dropping force of the telescopic stick like a hammer. This could cause structural damage to the machine and attachments. This machine has the allowable working radius specified. Before starting any telescopic stick operation, put signs that indicate the maximum working radius at the working area, in order to alert the operator not to operate the machine beyond the maximum working radius. Machine operation beyond the maximum working radius could cause the machine to tip and/or the telescopic stick to be damaged, resulting in personal injury. Always operate the machine within the maximum working radius.Sudden implement operation could cause uncontrolled swing of the clamshell bucket, resulting in machine tipping and/or unexpected material spillage. This could result in serious personal injury.Always move machine control levers and pedals slowly in a smooth motion.
1. Move the machine to the work area and position the telescopic stick perpendicular against the ground. 2. While keeping a safe distance from buried pipes and/or cables and watching hand signals from a person, lower the boom and telescopic stick perpendicular toward the excavation. 3. Extend the telescopic stick until the clamshell bucket cutting edges are against the desired digging point. 4. Start digging. To offer optimum breakout force at the cutting edges, close the clamshell bucket while applying down pressure of the telescopic stick. Do not use the dropping force of the clamshell bucket for digging. This could cause excessive forces to the front attachments.5. When the clamshell bucket has been completely closed, retract the telescopic stick and raise the boom.6. When the clamshell bucket is clear of the excavation, operate the swing control until reaching the desired dump position. Slowly move the swing lever to keep the clamshell bucket from swinging excessively. 7. When reaching the desired dump position, stop the combined operation of swing, boom and telescoping stick in a smooth motion and slowly open the clamshell bucket to dump the load.
