Whenever draining lubricant extreme caution should be used. Lubricant may be hot and can cause personal injury.
1. Machine must be level, engine stopped, bucket lowered with slight down pressure and parking brake set. 2. Remove filter drain plug and allow to drain. 3. Remove filter cover bolts and remove cover and element assembly. 4. Remove old element from cover and install a new element. Tighten retainer nut to 10 2 lb ft (14 3 N m). 5. Install cover and element assembly. Clean and install drain plug. 6. Remove magnetic strainer cover. Remove retainer, tube and screen.
When using pressure air wear safety face shield and protective clothing. Maximum air pressure must be below 30 PSI (205 kPa).Use all cleaning solutions with care.
7. Wash screen in clean, nonflammable solvent. 8. Clean magnets with a cloth, stiff fiber bristle brush or pressure air.
Do not drop or rap magnets against hard objects. Replace any damaged magnets.
9. Clean cover and inspect seal. Replace if damaged. Install screen, magnets and cover. 10. Start engine and measure oil level. Oil level should be to FULL mark on gauge. 11. Add oil if necessary.(30)Hydraulic System

Machine must be level, oil warm, engine stopped, bucket lowered with slight down pressure and parking brake set. 1. Move hydraulic controls to help relieve pressure. 2. Loosen implement filter cover bolt and remove cover and elements. 3. Remove elements and inspect cover seal. Use new seal if necessary. 4. Install new elements on cover and install cover and elements. 5. Loosen steering filter cover bolts and remove cover and element. 6. Remove element and inspect cover seal. Use new seal if necessary.7. Install new element on cover and install cover and element.8. Start engine and allow oil to circulate.9. Measure oil level. 10. Maintain oil level above ADD mark in sight gauge.(31)Fuel Tank Filler Cap And Screen
1. Remove and disassemble fuel tank filler cap. 2. Wash cap elements in clean nonflammable solvent.3. Oil elements slightly. Assemble cap. 4. Remove tank filler screen and wash in clean nonflammable solvent. 5. Inspect filler cap gasket. Use new gasket if necessary. Install filler cap.(32)Cooling System
Always inspect cooling system with engine stopped.Use caution when removing radiator filler cap. Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.Inhibitor contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Add Caterpillar Cooling System Inhibitor or equivalent. Carefully follow application chart on container.
