This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31483" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31483" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The input planetary bearings and torque converter output bearing need to be replaced on certain TH48-E80 Transmissions. The existing planetary bearings can fail and cause gear train damage.

ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the 6I-9809 Input Planetary Bearings with 274-7469 Bearings per RENR9664.
Replace the 8M-2031 Torque Converter Output Ball Bearing with 4M-5227 Split Inner Race Bearing, per RENR9664.
Note: The removed 8M-2031 Ball Bearing must be returned to Rodney Harms at the following address:
