Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the engine into a suitable container.

Remove bolts (1) and elbow (2) .

Loosen clamp (9) and disconnect hose (10) .
Loosen clamp (5) and disconnect hose (6) .
Remove bolt (8) and disconnect the ground strap. Disconnect harness assembly (7) .
Remove bolts (3) and cover assembly (4) .

Remove bolts (11) and water pump (12) .Installation Procedure

Position water pump (12) and install bolts (11) .

Position cover assembly (4) and install bolts (3) .
Connect harness assembly (7). Connect the ground strap and install bolt (8) .
Connect hose (6) and tighten clamp (5) .
Connect hose (10) and tighten clamp (9) .

Position elbow (2) and install bolts (1) .
Refill the coolant system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.End By: Install the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
