The end of the camshaft that is marked "F" must be placed at the front of the engine. Lubricate the camshaft bearings, the journals, and the lobes with a 50/50 mixture of 8T-2998 Lubricant and clean engine oil.
A - - Diameter of camshaft journal is 84.85 0.02 mm (3.341 0.001 inch).
B - - Use the following procedure to find the actual lobe lift:
1. Measure the camshaft lobe height (C).
2. Measure the base circle (D).
3. Subtract the base circle measurement in Step 2 from the camshaft lobe height in Step 3. The difference is the actual lobe lift.
Specified camshaft lobe lift for
Exhaust lobe is 8.51520 mm (0.33524 inch).
Injector lobe (right bank) is 10.33667 mm (0.40695 inch).
Injector lobe (left bank) is 10.33718 mm (0.40697 inch).
Inlet lobe is 9.61850 mm (0.37868 inch).
The maximum permissible difference between the actual lobe lift in Step 3 and the specified camshaft lobe lift is 0.13 mm (0.005 inch).
