Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Raise the hood. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hood - Control".
Recover the air conditioner refrigerant from the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant". Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools".
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Loosen screws (1) in order to remove cover (3) from panel (2).

Remove bolt (4).

Remove bolts (5) from the front of panel (2).

Loosen bolts (6) from the rear of panel (2). Remove panel (2).

Disconnect hose assemblies (7) and (8). Disconnect hose (9).

Remove cable strap (11).

Remove bolts (12).

Disconnect harness assembly (13).

Release latches (14). Remove air filter cover (15) and the air filter.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to heater assembly (16). The weight of heater assembly (16) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).

Remove bolts (17) from the front side of panel (18). Lower panel (18).

Remove nuts (19) from each side of heater assembly (16). Remove heater assembly (16).
