9W-2853 Shim Pack 9W-2853 Shim Pack contains 21 shims:
Thickness of each shim in the shim pack for seven shims is 0.05 mm (0.002 inch).
Thickness of each shim in the shim pack for 14 shims is 0.12 mm (0.005 inch).
Total thickness of one shim pack is 2.03 mm (0.080 inch).
3 1 9B-0576 Bearing Locknut Gradually tighten the bearing locknut until torque required to rotate the pinion (6) within the bearing reaches 0.30 to 1.35 N m (2.66 to 11.95 lb in). Tighten the bearing locknut until the rolling resistance in the pinion is correct.
Bend the tab on the lock washer into the slot in the bearing locknut.
4 As required, use the following shim pack. Refer to the below procedure for the installation of the shim pack:
1 3T-9272 Shim Pack 3T-9272 Shim Pack contains eight shims:
Thickness of each shim in the shim pack for four shims is 0.05 mm (0.002 inch).
Thickness of each shim in the shim pack for four shims is 0.13 mm (0.005 inch).
Total thickness of one shim pack is 0.72 mm (0.028 inch).
3T-9272 Shim Pack installation procedure:
1. Gradually tighten the equally spaced three bolts (6) until the torque required to rotate the rotating housing (10) within the bearings reaches to 2.25 to 4.00 N m (19.91 to 35.40 lb in).
2. Measure the gap between the plate (7) and the rotating housing (10).
3. Select the shim pack with the thickness equal to the gap between the plate (7) and the rotating housing (10) Refer to step 2.
4. Remove three bolts (6) and install the shim pack (4).
5. Tighten the bolts (6).
6. Recheck the rotating torque of the bolts (5). Refer to step 1.
8 1 9W-1571 Slinger Apply Loctite Low Brakeloose PST to the flange of the slinger in the area that contact with the carrier.
9 3 9L-9132 Washer Make sure that the three washers are equally spaced.
11 3 5K-9107 Locking Bolt Torque to 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).
