Test Procedure for the Tilt Cylinder Relief Valve Pressure for the Rod End of the Right Valve
Introduction
Illustration 3 g01501754
Right main control valve (front view)
(1) Line relief valve (tilt back) The right line relief valve (tilt back) is located on the front of the right main control valve. A solenoid (dual set line relief solenoid) is used to switch this valve between a high-pressure setting and a low-pressure setting. The low-pressure setting is used to keep the maximum pressure in the cylinder lines lower than the main relief pressure. The ECM will control the valve to the low-pressure setting whenever the bucket is near the rack stops. The low pressure is to protect the rack stops and the linkage from damage. The line relief valve protects components of the tilt circuit from high pressure. External loads on the bucket may cause these high pressures.A hydraulic test bench is the most accurate method for testing line relief valves. If it is not practical to use a test bench, then use the following procedure on the machine.Reference: For the pressure and flow for bench testing this valve, refer to the Service Manual module Specifications, "Relief Valve (Line)" for the machine that is being serviced.

Before proceeding to the test procedure that follows, complete the procedures:Reference: For additional information about preparing the machine for troubleshooting the machine, refer to the Service Manual module Troubleshooting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.High Pressure Line Relief Test
Connect Caterpillar ET to the machine. The ET connector is located on the control panel on the right side of the cab.
Turn the engine start switch to the ON position.
Open the ET software program.
When ET has started, start the engine. Run the engine at high idle. Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature.
Make sure that the area is level and clear of people and obstacles. Then click the NEXT button.
Set the parking brake.
Slowly lower the linkage so that the bucket rests flat on the ground. Then click the NEXT button.
Install the steering frame lock. Then click the NEXT position.
Verify that the implement pilot pressure that is measured at the dual set line relief solenoid at low idle is between 3350 kPa (486 psi) and 3650 kPa (529 psi). Then press the "NEXT" button.
Turn off engine.
Engage the implement lockout switch. Then click the NEXT button.
Set the right tilt valve rod end high-pressure line relief adjustment nut.
Loosen the lock nut.
Turn the adjustment nut two turns counterclockwise.
Tighten the locknut.
Start the engine.
Set the parking brake.
Engage the steering/transmission lock lever.
Disengage the implement lockout switch.
Warm the hydraulic oil temperature to 43° C (109° F) or higher, or press the "NEXT"
