Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or the release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting the power train system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, Troubleshooting, "General Information" section.
Note: Make sure that the filters and the screens are clean before you test any pressures. Make sure that the oil is at operating temperature before you perform this test.This test will show the correct lockup clutch pressure if the lockup clutch pressure is correctly adjusted.Procedure
Disconnect the electrical harness connection from the lockup clutch solenoid. Disconnect the upshift solenoid and disconnect the downshift solenoid.
The transmission control must be in the NEUTRAL position.
The downshift solenoid remains activated while the transmission is in neutral. This causes +24 volts to be supplied to the electrical harness for the downshift solenoid.
Use two Deutsch 2-pin connectors (one plug and one receptacle) and two 16 gauge wires in order to make a jumper harness. The two wires should be approximately 4.5 m (15 ft) long. Connect one end of the jumper harness to the harness for the downshift solenoid.

Remove cover (4) from the torque converter lockup clutch and solenoid valve.
Remove load piston plug (2). Install cover (4) .

(7) Pressure tap for lockup clutch pressure "LU"
Using couplers and hose assembly, connect 8T-0849 Pressure Gauge (0 to 2,000-kPa (0 to 290-psi)) to the nipple at pressure tap (7) .
Start the engine while the parking brakes are engaged. Run the engine at low idle while the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. Connect the jumper harness from the downshift solenoid to the lockup clutch solenoid. The pressure on the gauge must be 1100 35 kPa (160 5 psi).
Stop the engine. After the pressure is correctly set, remove the test equipment. Replace load piston plug (2) .
