Install the lower bearing cup. Use tooling (A) to ensure the bearing cup is in contact with lower cap (4).4. Put clean SAE 30 oil on bearing cones (2). Install bearings cones (2) in the bore of the lower hitch group.5. Lower the temperature of the upper bearing cup to -75 5°C (-103 9°F). Install upper bearing cup (1) in the lower hitch. Use tooling (A) to ensure the bearing cup is in light contact with the bearing cones. 6. While holding the lower cap in position. Remove four bolts (3) and washers that hold it. Install the original amount of shims and upper cap (5). Remove the 4B-4280 Washers from bolts (3) and install the four bolts and the washers equally spaced as shown. Tighten diagonally opposite bolts to a torque of 120 7 N m (90 5 lb ft).7. Install tooling (B) on the bearing cones. Check the amount of torque needed to slowly turn the bearing cones. The correct torque is 11.3 to 39.6 N m (100.00 to 350.44 lb in). Add or remove shims to get the correct torque. Add shims to decrease the torque. Remove shims to increase the torque. 8. Remove tooling (B) and the caps from the lower hitch group. Use tooling (A) to install the lip seals in the caps. Install the seal in the bottom cap with the lip toward the outside of the cap. Install the seal in the top cap with the lip toward the inside of the cap. Put 5P-0960 Lubricant on the lips of the seals.9. Install the caps on the lower hitch group. Clean threads with Locquic Primer and apply Loctite 271 or similar thread lock prior to assembly. Install the cap bolts and washers. Tighten to a torque of 120 7 N m (90 5 lb ft). 10. Install spacer (6) in the lower hitch group. The following steps are for the assembly of the upper hitch bearings. 11. Lower the temperature of bearing (7). Install the bearing in the upper hitch group of the rear main frame flush with the bottom surface of the bore. 12. Put the bottom cap of the upper hitch group in position on the front main frame. Install three bolts (8) and washers that are evenly spaced around the cap to hold it.13. Lower the temperature of the bottom bearing cup to -75 5°C (-103 9°F). Install the bearing cup. Use tooling (A) to make sure the bearing cup makes contact with the bottom cap.14. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the bearing cones.
