Procedure For The Installation Of The Master Joint
Use 231-8888 Pin As .
Install two 8M-6239 Washers and one 8M-6238 Spacer in each track link. Make sure that the spacer is oriented correctly. The chamfer on the spacer must face the surface of the bushing. Refer to Illustration 2 for the detail of the assembly.
Use a 2S-8215 Pin for a guide pin in order to align the link bores.
Install the 231-8888 Pin As in the track links.Note: The pin should protrude 2.2 mm (0.09 inch) beyond the track link.
Use a 161-9203 Grease Cartridge for the lubrication of the track link. A grease that contains five percent molybdenum is an acceptable alternative.
Insert 8T-0831 Tip in the rubber stopper. Fill the joint with grease. Approximately fifty pumps with a manual grease gun will fill the joint.
Install 6Y-0473 Clear Plug in the rubber stopper.
Lubricate the joint on a machine service hour interval of every 250 hours in order to obtain the optimum service life.
