Remove locknut (C). See Illustration 3.Note: Use caution as you remove the locknut. The spring tension will be released as you remove the locknut.
Remove washer (D), spring (E), and spacer (F) .Note: Keep the locknut (C), washer (D), spring (E), and spacer (F) .
Remove bolt (G) and two washers (H) .
Withdraw the mechanical lock group from the weldment.

Remove the weldment from the machine and install the new weldment (8) on the machine.Follow the removal procedure and the installation procedure for the quick coupler that is in the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for your machine.Note: The two new 191-9588 Pin As (16) are required in order to install the new weldment (8) on 216, 226, and 228 machines. Use the existing hardware to install the new pin assemblies. Install a new 3B-8489 Grease Fitting (17) in each pin assembly. Lubricate the B-pin joint, as recommended. See Illustration 4.
In order to assemble the new right coupler handle and pin group, perform Step 4.a through Step 4.c.

Assemble a 192-2637 Plate (2) to the 192-2653 Handle (Right Hand) (6). Use a 195-6754 Spring Pin (7) to assemble the plate to the handle. See Illustration 5.
Place a 8T-4123 Plated Washer (13) and a 192-2645 Spring (4) on plate (2). Use a 195-6754 Spring Pin (7) to lock the spring in place.
Assemble a 192-2642 Pin (3) to the bottom of plate (2). Use a 166-2560 Spring Pin (1) to assemble the pin to the plate.Note: The extra length of spring pin (1) should not protrude through the spring pin. The extra length of spring pin (1), the angled face of pin (3), and the part number that is embossed on the handle should face to the rear of the machine when the assembly is installed.
Repeat Step 4.a through Step 4.c in order to assemble the left coupler handle and pin group. Use the 192-2648 Handle (Left Hand) for assembling the left coupler handle and pin group.
Perform Step 6.a through Step 6.c in order to install the right coupler handle and pin group on the new weldment.

Install the two 5B-0651 Straight Fitting (9) in the pin bores for the weldment. See Illustration 6.
Insert pin (3) of the right coupler handle and pin group (J) into the pin bore of the weldment.Note: Coat the pin bore with lubricant before inserting the pin.
