Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Do not turn the crankshaft or the camshaft while the camshaft gear is removed. If the front gear group is not correctly timed during installation, interference can occur between the pistons and the valves, resulting in damage to the engine.

Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the plate and front housing (12). Note: The mating surfaces of the plate and the front housing must be free of oil, fuel, water, dirt, assembly compounds, and any other contaminants during assembly.
Install a new gasket on the plate. Note: Trim the gasket even with the bottom of the front housing after assembly.
Apply Tooling (A) to the bottom of the gasket in order to fill the space at front housing (12) and the engine oil pan.
Install front housing (12) on the dowel pins on the cylinder block.
Install bolts (11).
Install studs (10) and nut (9).
Position strap (8) and install the bolts.

Install bolts (7) that fasten the engine oil pan to the front housing.
Install bolts (5) and bolts (6).
Install nut (4).
Position bracket (3) and install bolts (2).
Install bolts (1). End By:
Install the front engine support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Support (Front) - Remove and Install".
Install the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
Install the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Position Sensor - Remove and Install".
Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Position Sensor - Remove and Install".
Install the crankshaft front seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Front Seal - Install".
Install the camshaft gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Gear - Remove and Install".
Install the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Install".
