Information:
1. Lift the machine so the rear wheels are off of the ground with tooling (A). Install tooling (B) under the machine.2. Drain the oil from the final drive housing. 3. Disconnect brake line (1) from the junction block. Remove the bolt that holds junction block (2) to the tandem. 4. Fasten a hoist to the tandem. Install tooling (C) to keep the tandem drive in position. 5. Remove bolts (3) and cover (4) from the final drive housing. Remove the gasket for the cover.6. Bend the locks down and loosen bolts (5) for cap (6). 7. Bend the locks down and remove bolts (8) and cap (9).8. Remove nuts (7) and washers that hold the axle housing to the final drive housing. 9. Put wooden blocks (11) under the gear to hold it in position.10. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forcing screws to push the axle housing off of the studs. Lower the axle housing and tandem drive and remove the axle housing and tandem drive as a unit. The weight is 3000 lb. (1350 kg).11. Remove the O-ring seal and shims (10). If the hub or support bearing is to have a replacement made, make the final drive and support bearing adjustment as follows:a) Put the axle housing on the final drive housing without shims.b) Install the nuts that hold the housings together. Remove the wooden blocks and turn the gear to put the bearing in its seat.c) Check the end clearance of the final drive gear with tooling (A).d) Find the amount of shims needed between the axle housing and final drive housing with a feeler gauge.e) Install shims to get .003 to .011 in. (0.08 to 0.28 mm) end clearance. Install a minimum of two shims on each side.1. Install tooling (B) and fasten a hoist to the tandem drive.2. Install the O-ring seal and the correct amount of shims between the axle housing and final drive housing. 3. Put the tandem drive and axle housing (1) in position against the final drive housing. Make sure the splines of the axle are in engagement with the splines in the hub. 4. Install the washers and nuts (2) that hold the axle housing to the final drive housing.5. Remove the wooden blocks from under the gear.6. Install shim (3) on each side of the cap. Install cap (4), locks and bolts that hold the cap to the frame. Tighten the other side. Bend the locks up. 7. Put the gasket for the final drive cover in place. Install final drive cover (5) and the bolts that hold it in place. 8. Install junction block (7) for the brake lines. Connect brake line (6) to the junction block.9. Fill the final drive with oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE. 10. Lift the machine with tooling (C) and remove tooling (D).11. Remove the (bleed) air from the brake system. See REMOVING
