Information:

If the machine moved while testing the brakes, contact your Caterpillar dealer. Have the dealer inspect and, if necessary, repair the service brakes before returning the machine to operation.
Tracks
Adjust
Grease is under high pressure.Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death.Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.Loosen the relief valve one turn only.
Move the machine forward and allow it to stop without applying the service brakes. Tracks should be adjusted under the same conditions in which the machines are used. If packing conditions prevail on the job, the tracks should be adjusted with packing present. The sag in the track is measured between the sprocket and the front idler. Correct adjustment gives dimension (2) of 165 10 mm (6.50 .40 in).
175 mm (6.89 in) or more. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for track service or instructions.
If Track is Too Loose:
1. Remove adjusting valve cover plate. 2. Add multipurpose grease (MPGM) through adjusting valve (3) until dimension (2) is correct.3. Operate the machine back and forth to equalize the pressure. Allow the machine to coast to a stop. Do not use the brakes. Stop the engine.4. Remeasure dimension (2).If Track Is Too Tight:
1. Loosen relief valve (4) one turn only, and allow the grease to escape.2. Close the relief valve.3. Add multipurpose grease (MPGM) through adjusting valve (3) until dimension (2) is correct.4. Install the valve cover plate.5. Repeat procedure on the other track.Air Conditioner (If Equipped)
Inhaling refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting refrigerant can cause bodily harm or death. Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.
Test Operation/Adjust Belt
1. Start the engine. Operate the engine at HIGH IDLE.2. Set the air conditioner control for maximum cooling, and fan control on HIGH.3. Allow two minutes for the air conditioning system to stabilize. 4. Check for refrigerant in the system as follows: Feel suction line and discharge line.If the system contains refrigerant, the discharge line is warmer than the suction line.If the system does not contain, or is very low on refrigerant, poor cooling results.5. Stop the engine to inspect the compressor belt.6. Inspect the condition and the adjustment of the compressor belt. The belt should deflect 14 to 20 mm (.56 to .81 in) under 110 N (25 lb) force. To Adjust:
1. Remove enclosures if equipped.2. Loosen the compressor mounting bolt and the adjusting rod nut.3. Move the compressor in or out to obtain the correct belt tension. Tighten the compressor mounting bolt and the adjusting bracket bolt. Recheck the belt deflection.4. Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 if necessary. Check the cab air filters and clean filter elements, if necessary.5. If poor cooling is still experienced, turn off the air conditioner. Stop the engine. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for air conditioner system
