Tractors ( 3X1187-Up, 4X9182-Up, 5X1136-Up)Reports indicate that in some applications, dust or fibrous or fluffy debris can cause plugging of the air side of the folded core modules used in the radiator assemblies. This can result in decreased maintenance intervals. Radiator conversion groups are available for D6D Tractors 3X1187-Up, 4X9182-Up, 5X1136-Up which will provide increased resistance to plugging. These conversion groups replace the folded core radiator with a conventional radiator.
The conventional radiators have a lower cooling fin density than the folded core modules. Therefore, the conventional radiators are more open to air flow through the core which makes them more resistant to plugging from fine, fibrous or fluffy debris.
The radiator conversion group part numbers that follow are not serviced as a group. The conversion groups contain radiator groups and regulator and housing groups which also are not serviced as a group. But, all of the components of the radiator groups and the housing and regulator groups are serviced. Lists of the components in the radiator groups and the housing and regulator groups and illustrations showing the locations of the components in the groups are available in the indicated parts book microfiche.
The 9Y3167 Radiator Conversion Group is available to convert the above D6D Tractors with direct drive transmissions from a folded core radiator to a conventional radiator. The 9Y3167 Radiator Conversion Group consists of a 7N5459 Radiator Group and a 2P8173 Housing And Regulator Group. The components of these groups are listed and shown in the D6D (3X) Tractor Parts Book Microfiche SEFP1293, Pages 35.03, 35.04 and 40A.
The 9Y3168 Radiator Conversion Group is available to convert the above D6D Tractors with power shift transmissions from a folded core radiator to a conventional radiator. The 9Y3168 Radiator Conversion Group consists of a 7N5128 Radiator Group and a 2P8173 Housing And Regulator Group. The components of these groups are listed and shown in the D6D (6X) Tractor Parts Book Microfiche SEFP1296, Pages 33.01, 33.02 and 36.02.
The above D6D Tractors with sound suppression radiators (an attachment) never used folded core radiators. The sound suppression radiators were conventional radiators.
