Remove Turbocharger
1. Remove bolts and clips (1) and exhaust elbow (2) from the turbocharger. 2. Remove water inlet tube (5) and water outlet tube (4) from turbocharger (3). 3. Remove the bolts, elbow (6) and tube assembly (7) as a unit and the gasket from the aftercooler and turbocharger. Remove the seal from tube assembly (7).4. Loosen clamp (8) that holds the hose to the turbocharger. 5. Remove oil inlet line (9) and the gasket and disconnect the oil drain line (not shown) from the turbocharger.6. Remove the seal from oil inlet line (9). 7. Fasten a hoist to turbocharger (3). Remove nuts (10), turbocharger (3) and the gasket from the exhaust manifold. The weight of the turbocharger is 36 kg (80 lb.). 8. Remove oil drain line (11) from the flywheel housing.9. If necessary, remove the seal from oil drain line (11).Install Turbocharger
1. Make sure all gasket surfaces are clean and free of dirt.2. Inspect and make a replacement of any seal that is worn or damaged and put clean engine oil or glycerine on them at assembly. 3. Install seal (2) on oil drain line (1).4. Install oil drain line (1) on the flywheel housing. 5. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the studs.6. Fasten a hoist on turbocharger (4). Install gasket (3) and turbocharger (4) on the exhaust manifold. Install the nuts that hold the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold and tighten them to a torque of 55 5 N m (40 4 lb.ft.). 7. Install the seal on oil inlet line (5).8. Install the gasket and oil inlet line (5) on the turbocharger and the cylinder block.9. Install the gasket and connect oil drain line (1) to the turbocharger. 10. Make sure hose (7) is correctly installed on the turbocharger and tighten clamp (8).11. Install the seal on tube assembly (9).12. Install the gasket, tube assembly (9) and elbow (6) as a unit on the aftercooler and turbocharger as shown. 13. Install water inlet line (10) and water outlet line (11) on the turbocharger. 14. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of bolts (12).15. Install exhaust manifold (13) on the turbocharger with clips (14) and bolts (12).Disassemble Turbocharger
START BY:a) remove turbocharger 1. Install turbocharger in tool group (A). Put marks on the three housings of the turbocharger for correct installation and alignment at assembly. Loosen "V" clamp (2) and remove compressor housing (1).2. Loosen "V" clamp (3). Remove cartridge housing (4) from turbine housing (5). 3. Put the cartridge assembly in tool (B) as shown.4. Use tool (C) and remove the nut that holds compressor wheel (6). Remove compressor wheel (6).
When the nut is loosened, do not put a side force on the shaft.
5. Remove the turbine shaft (7) from the cartridge housing. 6. Remove seal ring (9) and shroud (8) from turbine shaft (7). 7. Use tool (D) and remove ring (11) that holds insert (10) in the cartridge housing. 8. Remove insert (10) with tooling (E).
