Information:


Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Replace the hydraulic oil filters. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Filters - Replace" .

Remove oil drain plug (1) . Allow the hydraulic oil to drain into a suitable container.

Remove three bolts (2) from the end cover (3) . End cover (3) is on the suction screen for the hydraulic pump.

Pull end cover (3) downward until the end cover clears coupler (4) .
Turn suction screen (5) in the counterclockwise direction in order to remove the suction screen.
Clean the pump area.
Wash the suction screen in a clean, nonflammable solvent in order to clean the suction screen. Inspect the suction screen. Inspect the O-ring seals. Replace damaged O-rings.
Install suction screen (5) . Hand tighten the suction screen in the clockwise direction. Turn the suction screen by an additional 1/4 turn. Do not overtighten the suction screen.

Install O-ring (6) on the housing. Lubricate the O-ring with oil.
Lubricate the exposed O-ring on coupler (4) .
Install end cover (3) . Make sure that you do not damage the O-rings.

Install three bolts (2) into end cover (3) . Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 55 N m (41) .
Clean drain plug (1) . Install the drain plug.

Remove hydraulic oil filler cap (8) .
Add the correct type of hydraulic oil. Add hydraulic oil until the hydraulic system oil level is between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (7) .Note: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" for the correct type of hydraulic oil.
Start the engine. Operate the hydraulic system. Raise the three-point hitch.
Stop the engine before you check the hydraulic system oil level. Allow the oil to cool for five minutes before you check the hydraulic system oil level.
Remove dipstick (8) . The oil level should be between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (8) .
Maintain the oil level between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on dipstick (8) .
