Remove the grid assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Retarder - Remove".

Remove screen (1) , with the exception of the bolts in Locations (Z) .

Position Tooling (A) with the use of a suitable lifting device.Note: Use a suitable lifting device in Locations (X1) and (X2) in order to aid Tooling (A) . There are two possible methods for lowering the grid assembly.
Method 1
Install Tooling (B) into Location (X2) .
Rotate grid assembly (2) onto the ground by raising the lifting device at Location (X2) and lowering the lifting device at Location (X1) .
Method 2
Attach the chain from Tooling (A) to a fork lift.
Attach Tooling (B) to Location (X2) , and attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B) .
Use two people in order to rotate grid assembly (2) , alternating between raising the lifting device and lowering the arms of the fork lift.

Remove plate (4) and remove screen (3) .

Remove necessary covers (5) . Position harness assemblies (6) out of the way.

Attach suitable strapping and a suitable lifting device to support (8) . The weight of support (8) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

Note the location of element (11) at Location (Y) on the Tooling. This element is known as a Tapped Element. The element must be marked for installation purposes. The Tapped Element must be installed in this location for installation.
Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to the appropriate element (12) . The weight of element (12) is approximately 175 kg (385 lb).
Remove the appropriate element (12) . Repeat Step 12 for any remaining elements.Note: The Tapped Element (11) can be removed in the following manner as elements (12) .
