Assembly Procedure
Place top bearing cup (4) and lower bearing cup (7) in a freezer for at least 1 hour to allow the parts to shrink. You may use liquid nitrogen as an option for this step.
Seat top bearing cup (4) into the top plate of the housing by tapping on the cup with a dead blow hammer and a plate. Do not strike the cup directly with ball peen hammer.
Finish seating the bearing cup with a hammer and bronze drift.
Pass a 0.051 mm (0.0020 inch) feeler gauge around the seat of the bearing cup. If gauge will fit between the cup and the seat, the cup is not seated properly. Repeat Step 3 until the cup is fully seated.
Install lower bearing cup (7) into the housing by repeating Steps 2, 3 and 4.
Install seal (8) by tapping with a dead blow hammer. Install retaining ring (9) into the groove of the housing beneath seal (8) .
Heat wear ring seal (10) to 83° C (180° F). Place wear ring seal (10) on shaft (5). Make sure that the step is facing upward.
Heat bearing cone (11) to 83° C (180° F). Place bearing cone (11) on shaft (5). The step on wear ring seal (10) will seat against bearing cone (11) .
Allow bearing cone (11) to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. In order to seat the bearing cone, strike the top surface 4 times at 90° intervals with a hammer and a bronze drift.
Pack bearing with grease by using a needle point nozzle. Use 5P-0960 Grease Cartridge .
Install lower lip seal (6). Make sure that the thin side is up on shaft (5).
Install shaft (5). Make sure that the thin side is up. Slide the shaft downward. Make sure that the shaft rests on the bearing cone.
Use a floor jack to raise the disc and the shaft. Raise the disc and the shaft until the lower bearing cone is contacting the bearing cup.
Install seal (12) to the shaft. Make sure that the thin side is down. Slide the seal downward. Make sure that the seal rests on the lip of the saw housing.
Heat bearing cone (3) to 83° C (180° F). Place the bearing cone on the shaft. Strike the surface with a ball peen hammer and a bronze drift .
Allow bearing cone (3) to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. In order to seat the bearing cone against cup (4), strike the surface with a ball peen hammer and a bronze drift .
Pack bearing with grease by using a needle point nozzle. Use 5P-0960 Grease Cartridge .
Install the locking nut and tighten by hand.End Play Measurement
Note: Shaft end play should be .229 -.254 mm (.009 - .010 inch) cold.
In order to raise the saw disc, use a floor jack. Raise the frame approximately 25 mm (0.98 inch).
In order to place a preload on the bearing, tighten the bearing locknut and then back off three splines. Install splined coupler (1) .
Release the floor jack. Use a dead blow
