Stopping the engine immediately after the engine has been operating under a load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.Allow the engine to gradually cool before stopping the engine.
Note: The rpm for the cooldown and the duration of the cooldown can be programmed with an electronic service tool.For the normal stopping procedure, see the "Operator's Manual" that is provided by the OEM of the locomotive.A button for normal stopping is located on the junction box that is shipped with the engine. Any additional controls for stopping the engine are the responsibility of the locomotive OEM.

The stop button is in the OUT position for normal engine operation. To stop the engine, push the button. This deactivates the fuel injection.The engine will coast to a stop. Ensure that any system that provides external support to the engine is secured after the engine is stopped.If the stop button is reset during crankshaft rotation, the engine will resume normal operation.The stop button must be reset before the engine can be restarted. To reset the button, turn the button clockwise. The spring-loaded button will return to the OUT position. The button may also be pulled to the OUT position.
