The early production machines included Engine Software that did not support Engine Idle Management System (EIMS). The implement software may need to be updated before updating the engine software on these machines. The Engine Software and the Implement Software must be updated on these machines. The EIMS looks to the implement functions as an input in order to determine if the machine can go into EIMS mode.Solution
Implement Software must be updated before updating engine software if the current engine software has a part number lower than the part number in Table 1. If current engine software has a number that equals the number in Table 1 or higher than the number in Table 1 then updating the implement software is not required to update engine software. Reference the Service Information System (SIS) web for the most recent software releases.Note: If an Implement Software update is needed of a 980H use the following procedure. Copy the configuration of the implement ECM with ECM replacement. Flash the new implement software. Program the saved configuration into the implement ECM. Verify that the implement ECM has been configured properly. Cycle power by using the ignition switch. Perform implement calibrations. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, RENR8678, "Electrohydraulic System". Confirm that all fault codes have been cleared.
