Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Depress the button on top of the breaker relief valve in order to relieve any pressure in the hydraulic tank.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) .
Remove bolt (4) .
Loosen bolt (5) and raise valve housing (6) .
Disconnect hose assembly (7) and remove valve housing (6) .

Remove pressure reducing valve (8) from valve housing (6) .

Remove three O-ring seals (9) from pressure reducing valve (8) .Installation Procedure
Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install three O-ring seals (9) to pressure reducing valve (8) .

Install pressure reducing valve (8) to valve housing (6). Tighten pressure reducing valve (8) to a torque of 50 3 N m (37 2 lb ft).

Connect hose assembly (7) .
Install valve housing (6) to bolt (5). Tighten bolt (5) .
Install bolt (4) .
Connect hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) .
Purge the air from the parking brake. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Braking System Air - Purge".
Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".
Test the pressure reducing valve. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil) - Test and Adjust".End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
