Schematic for the RH Operator Parking Brake SwitchThis diagnostic code is associated with the RH Operator Parking Brake Switch. The FMI 02 means that the ECM determined that the signal is intermittent, erratic, or incorrect. The ECM could be receiving invalid combinations from the circuit.Note: The RH Operator ECM is located under the RH Operator Platform. The possible causes of the problem are listed below:
There is an open or grounded wire between A314-OR and the RH Operator ECM.
There is an open wire or a grounded wire between 419-YL and the RH Operator ECM.
One or more of the parking brake switches have failed.
There is an open on wire A270-BK.
The RH Operator ECM has failed. This is unlikely. Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, secure and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. CHECK THE CONTINUITY OF THE SWITCH IN THE RELEASE POSITION
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Unplug the switch from the wire harness.
Place the switch in the RELEASE position.
With the switch in the RELEASE position, check the resistance from terminal 1 to terminal 2. Check the resistance from terminal 3 to terminal 4.Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 5 ohms on terminals 1 and 2. The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms on terminals 3 and 4.Results:
OK - The resistances are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance is not less than 5 ohms from terminal 1 to terminal 2 or the resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms from terminal 3 to terminal 4.Repair: The switch has failed. Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE CONTINUITY OF THE SWITCH IN THE SET POSITION
Press and hold the switch in the SET position.
With the switch in the SET position, check the resistance from terminal 1 to terminal 2. Check the resistance from terminal 3 to terminal 4.Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 5 ohms from terminal 3 to terminal 4. The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms from terminal 1 to terminal 2.Results:
OK - The resistances are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is not less than 5 ohms from terminal 3 to terminal 4 or the resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms from terminals 1 to terminal 2. Repair: The switch has failed. Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE HARNESS
The disconnect switch and the key start switch remain in the OFF position.
The machine harness remains disconnected from the switch.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connectors from the ECM.
Measure the resistance from contact J2-30 (wire A314-OR) of the machine harness to all the contacts that are used in machine harness connectors for the ECM.
Measure the resistance from contact J2-31
