Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove bolts (1) and position the hose assemblies out of the way.
Disconnect harness assemblies (2) and remove the mounting hardware.
Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose (4). Position hose assembly (3) and hose (4) out of the way.
Disconnect hose assembly (5).

Remove four bolts (6) and install Tooling (A).

Install Tooling (B), and a suitable lifting device to torque converter housing (7). The weight of torque converter housing (7) and the torque converter is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).

Remove nuts (8) from torque converter housing (7).

Install Tooling (C) and tighten Tooling (C) evenly in order to separate torque converter housing (7) from flywheel housing (8).

Remove Tooling (A).
Remove torque converter housing (7) and the O-ring seal.

Remove bolt (9), retainer (10), and yoke (11) from torque converter (14).
Remove sensor (12) from torque converter (14).
Remove bolts (13) from torque converter housing (7).

Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter housing (7).

Install Tooling (E) and tighten evenly in order to separate torque converter housing (7) from torque converter (14).
Lift torque converter housing (7) from torque converter (14). The weight of torque converter housing (7) is approximately 154 kg (340 lb).
