Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Personnel can be injured during the steering check.To help prevent possible personal injury, keep all personnel away from the machine or in clear view of the operator when the machine is in operation during steering checks.
Put the machine on a dry, hard surface. Start the engine and operate the engine at high idle. Raise the bowl and release the brakes. The time for a full turn must be 6.5 seconds to 7.5 seconds. A full turn is from stop to stop. Turning left or turning right must take the same amount of time.The time for a right turn and the time for a left turn must be within 0.4 seconds.If the time is different, check the steering system pressure. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Steering System Pressures - Test and Adjust" for information on checking the steering system pressure.You use the same methods to check the secondary steering. The secondary steering has a slower time of 6.9 seconds to 8.2 seconds. The time must also be within 0.4 seconds for a right turn and a left turn.Note: The turning time of a machine with secondary steering is slower than a machine without secondary steering.
